Varitek? Is something wrong or just a Slow start?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis
Stewie : [watching a baseball game] Why does that man drop his club before he runs? I would bring it with me!

I would be concerned because Varitek is usually better in the first half than second half. The only thing I think is wrong with him is "FatherTime". At a grueling position it can creep up on you fast.

Its worth noting that V-Tek doesn't really put too much stock in to his hitting game. He's more concerned with calling a good game for his pitchers. I recall some interviews were he 'broke out of slumps' and they woudl ask what he did differently and he would always respond by saying "nothing".

He just doesn't look focused at the plate. It's almost as if he's thinking about the batters due up in the next inning rather than trying to get a hit. More importantly HE doesn't ever seem frustrated if he Ks. Not that tek usually shows huge amounts of emotion, but he doesn't seem to have lost confidence in himself as a hitter. He just doesnt' seemed all that concerned about it. I bet once things settle down in terms of pitching for the sox he'll dial it up.

varitek has always been really streaky, but this is his longest drought in quite a bit.

Same predicament here. I have Willingham at catcher with Varitek wasting away on the bench. Can't get a single offer for him.

Well he's no Brian McCann

Bold Predictions:
Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position
Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs
Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position
