While allowing the Expos to overcome sizable deficits twice in the past three days, the Braves have proven they could use some pitching help before Thursday's trade deadline.
The Orioles' Sidney Ponson seems to still be a possibility to land in Atlanta. But during this weekend, there have been a few Braves players who have hinted that the Expos' Javier Vazquez may be donning a tomahawk across his chest before the week is complete.
Vazquez will pitch against the Braves on Monday afternoon in what might be an audition. The Expos right-hander has a 2.14 ERA in his past six starts and has always been held in high regard by Atlanta manager Bobby Cox.

Don't forget that Boston is still looking for a starter. Rumors I've heard include Ponson/Colon/Vasquez.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
I can't see Bud Selig sending Vaz to ATL.
BOS maybe. but the Expos are still in contention and they will be happy with the draft picks (2 number ones I believe I read) when he signs with Georgie Porgie in the winter.
If Vazquez goes to Boston people will be dancing in the streets. If Colon goes to Boston people will say what a chubbsta, just get us some wins. If Ponson goes to Boston aw man we paid too much.
he aint going anywhere. minaya is not trading anyone cause the expos are only 4 out of the wildcard and hes trying desperately to make the playoffs and could get in if they get hot. remember guerrero is back, had 2 homers today against braves. the expos have no one to replace him in the rotation and need all the pithcing they have for th time being.
I for one would love to see Vazquez on the Red Sox. Not only is he on my fantasy team, but I am a Sox fan as well. I know he is a streaky pitcher, but any team would love to have him. He is a strikeout machine.
