I'm debating whether to pick this guy up or not. I'd like to have him on my team but I'd prefer to know that he's gonna start. It seems like those plans have been put on hold.
he def. shouldn't be on WW. he should boost your K and ratios regardless of his role, but i would guess he'll be inserted into the rotation within the next month.
Lohse bought himself another start with his recent effort at Texas, but it may only be temporary. He isn't Gardenhire's blue-eyed boy. Silva and Radke both have had lousy starts and either could be dropped from the rotation, though it would be tough to drop Radke.
As a Twins homer, I'd virtually guarantee that Liriano is starting by the ASB.
You should find a way to get this guy on your roster. He should be starting after the break (and maybe sooner).
Then again, maybe Gardenhire's just keeping him around as motivation. With Liriano hovering over his shoulder, Lohse did a passable impersonation of a major-league pitcher at Texas the other day. Next up: Silva and his vaunted 8.00+ ERA vs. the White Sox. Stay tuned ...
the precursor I'm looking for is another lefty arm in Minnys pen, or for the Twins to make the decision they can't make the playoffs and go w/o a lhp in the pen.
There's also still a chance that Liriano could get into the rotation if Radke gets moved to a rotation-depleted team like the Mets who might be willing to give some value for a starter that can eat up some innings. Again, that's something that probably couldn't happen until closer to the ASB.
Fanball: Carlos Silva's struggles have landed him in the Twins bullpen. A night after giving up eight runs – six earned – in 3 1/3 innings against the White Sox, manager Ron Gardenhire told the Associated Press that Francisco Liriano would be elevated to the starting rotation, while Silva would be put in the bullpen in attempt to get him on the right track.
wait, WHAT?! is it on? please tell me it's on. tell me it's on.
it IS ON!!!!
rotoworld reports:
Francisco Liriano - R - Twins
Francisco Liriano will move into the rotation and start Friday against the Brewers. He'll be replacing Carlos Silva. If Liriano was somehow dropped in your mixed league, grab him now. He'll be on a rather low pitch count initially, so he may not be all that valuable right off. However, he could easily be one of the top 10 or 15 starters in the AL over the rest of the season.
