Hmm, just missed out on Wheeler in my money league ... ... but the guy who got him dropped Putz, whom seems much more likely to keep the closing gig than Wheeler. I have officially been converted to the "don't draft closers" camp, when you consider what people have gotten from guys like Lidge, Street, Gagne, etc., vs. what they've gotten from guys like Papelbon or Gordon.
Of course, the season is Young.
Just curious, why the run to grab Wheeler, when the article says Wheeler and Quals will split the saves?
Because Wheeler got the last save...thus he will get all of them....
Come on Pacman...you know how FBB goes...

England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.

Well the reality is Wheeler WILL get most of the save opps being the 8th inning set up guy. The reason Garner mentions both Wheeler and Qualls is to take pressure off the situation.
Wheeler will close until Lidge is ready to come back and I wouldn't be too concerned about his numbers this year. They've been blown out by one rough outing and his numbers before that were pretty good. Wheeler was one of the leagues elite set up men in 2005.

Thank you. Everyone is worried about his numbers this year but his game log looks fine other than that one outing and are so quick to forget how solid he was setting up for Lidge last year. As for running to get him in your league, I did it before the news was announced with the spot I'm using to claim Hamels just in case something like this happened. I'll probably drop another guy now, when those cheap saves come around it's best to go for them because you never know.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.

I was a counselor in that camp last season.
Opening day my 'closers' were Mota, Hawkins and Adams.
I lost the race for Turnbow and Jones was already snagged (holds league).
Eventually, through quick triggers on the wire, ended up down the stretch with Fuentes, Farnsworth, Rodney and Valverde. Not a drafted (or traded-for) closer in the bunch, but it was enough to survive the H2H playoffs.
