No one could come close, but the split second before he released the pitch Chloe would call him on his phone, warn him that the ball is actually a nuclear device planted by the MLB Commish in a massive plot to blow up the stadium. The umpire, an accomplice of the Commish, will call time and run off the field, kidnap the batboy (which just so happened to be Kim Bauer for this one game), and threaten to kill her unless Jack beans Pujols with the next pitch (setting off the device and killing everyone). And all of this happens in the span of 40 seconds.
