Huge Cubs fan here:

There are many problems with this team aside from what everyone has already stated thus far. I would just like to point out, whether this be the forum for it or not, that the cubs problems start with lack of depth. Their rotation right now is pitiful (Hill throws the worst curve I have ever seen in my life). The guys they have playing with field are mediocre at best (Neifi is a perfect example here). They go out and sign two "speedsters" because that is what they lacked last year. Then Lee gets hurt and the power is completely gone. How we have too many guys who hit for contact and not for power.

Not sure where I am going with this, but I just had to say it <img src=/forums/images/smiles/kiss.gif>

If D. Lee hadn't been hurt, I've gotta believe most Cubs' fans wouldn't be complaining about the offense, outside of lack of depth maybe. But if Lee's in the line-up, it changes everything.

Also I know Pierre has struggled a bit, but to say that was a terrible signing, I don't get that. Most major league teams would love to have a guy like Juan Pierre.

Pierre's struggles include all of last season, where he put up a .326 OBP and a .680 OPS overall. His career SB% is 73%, which is pretty pedestrian also. I just don't see the fascination with him, his speed will decline pretty quickly as he nears 30 and he already throws like Bernie Williams.

From RotoWorld:

May 26 Prior is scheduled to go on a rehabillitation assignment at Class-A Peoria next week to continue his come back from a sore right shoulder. He has been on the disabled list all season with the injury and there is no timetable for his return.

So Mid-June looks to be right.
