Looks like Marrero may be getting his C eligibility on Yahoo!
If he could get regular at bats - w/ his power and speed - he'd be a real steal to plug into the C spot.
What do you guys see as his chances of producing?
Also, on Yahoo does he need 9 more appearances at C or just 1 more?
thanks - my 1st post

I believe he had 9 games left to get C eligibility going into today. On Yahoo when you see the number 9 on position eligiblity that means he has 9 games left til he becomes eligible. But he did get in the game today to catch for an inning or two. So now he has 8 games left.
My real question about him is, is he in the lineup everyday? That's pretty much all I'm looking for. I've had almost enough of "I play 3 games a week Benjie Molina".

I agree. Navarro has not impressed this year offensively or defensively and this kid looks like he can swing the bat pretty well, I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers kept him at this level because he has impressed in his first 4 games with 4RBIs and 2Rs.

I believe Yahoo requires 10 appearances for qualification at a position. I know they require 5 starts. So I believe it's 5 starts/10 apps.....

Good first post; welcome to the Cafe. I definitely agree, Marrero is a sleeper. The Rockies really have nobody that can hit at catcher, and if Marrero shows he can field the position and handle the staff, he should be there 4-5 days a week. I especially like his speed for a catcher.

I agree that he is a good sleeper. Even if he only starts 5 games a week, that is same as most Cs.
If you are stuck with Kendall or someone like that he is not a bad option once he gets eligability.

Where's he going to play everyday though? If he does truly become a regular starting catcher (or any other position), he'd be worthwhile especially with the C eligibility.
