Ibanez out for Tigers series because of skin infection

DETROIT - Left fielder Raul Ibanez will miss the Royals' weekend series against the Detroit Tigers.
Ibanez is confined to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City because of cellulitis, a skin infection, in his right leg.

"He needs something stronger than the oral antibiotics we've been giving him, and this will allow them to get it into him easier," trainer Nick Swartz said.
"Plus it gets him off his feet and gives his body some time to recuperate."
Ibanez left the club after Thursday's game in Minnesota because of constant irritation of the cystlike condition in his thigh. The area became puffy because of the infection and was causing pain, especially when he ran.
Swartz said he wasn't certain what caused the problem.
"It could be an infected hair folicle, dirt or sweat or all of the above," he said.
That deprives the Royals of their cleanup hitter, who himself was filling in for injured Mike Sweeney in that crucial spot.
There ya go!

Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.
Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
