The News
International League president Randy Mobley announced Tuesday that Triple-A Durham outfielder Delmon Young has been suspended 50 games without pay for throwing a bat at an umpire on April 26. Young also agreed to perform 50 hours of community service, MiLB.com reported. Although he is allowed to, Young will not appeal the suspension.
Our View
Mobley didn't have much precedent to work off of, and we thought he'd probably aim high with this suspension. This news (and Young's actions) obviously affects the top prospect's timeline for ascending to the majors.
