and now my head hurts. I wonder if he gets extra if he pitches on July 4th, during a hail storm, followed by a stampede of elephants and one baby zebra?
Rotoworld:
The Mets confirmed Monday that Tom Glavine has restuctured his contract to include an option for 2007.
Glavine's 2006 salary was reduced from $10.5 million to $7.5 million under the terms of the deal. The new contract contains a 2007 player option at $5.5 million and a $12 million team option, both with a $3 million buyout. The player option would increase by $1 million each for 180, 190 and 200 innings this year, and the team option would increase by $2 million if he throws 180 innings this year. If either option is exercised, and Glavine's 2007 salary is less than $14 million, he could have performance bonuses that would raise his earnings that year to $14 million.

Me too. My reasons are though that I own him in a few leagues this year and want to see him to real well to help me there. I also am rooting for him since he was one of the best in the 90s even though he was overshadowed by some of the other pitchers.

That's what you call an agent earning his commission.
If the Mets wind up paying Glavine $14 million next season, I might cry.

or they just buy him out for 3 mill and he retires after this season...
If he was going to retire, he woul dnot have agreed to it. And with a 3 M buyout guaranteed either way, it really makes no difference. He gets that money anyway in the worst case.
He needs to be like Ricky Henderson and negotiate a $20 million performance bonus if he wins the Cy Young, MVP and World Series MVP award while having a sub-1.00 era.
