According to Newsday, Kaz Matsui has seen plenty of playing time as of late because he's being showcased for trade possibilities (maybe to Sea for Pineiro?). There has also been talk about the Mets going after Clemens.

I'm guessing the Mets would take the brunt of the contract in order to obtain the pitching they so badly need. He's actually been playing pretty decent lately.

Id rather not do that. Hes playing fine actually, and Pineiro is not a upgrade on anyone in AAA. Maybe move heilman into the rotation.
The Mets will win the World Series this year.
On the surface I thought it would give Perez's value a boost working under Peterson.
Then I remembered that this is NY we're talking about, and Od. Perez is the biggest head case this side of Carlos Zambrano. He'd be a disaster waiting to happen every single night under the pressure of the NY media/fans.
And yes, that's why I would like to see him in a Mets uniform.
Mike and Mike were saying this morning that they could see Barry Zito in a Met uniform soon. I guess there is some guy in AAA that Oakland has the hots for and Zito is in the last year of his contract. of course, this is all speculation.
The Mets lost a fifth starter, why trade their top prospect for a number one or two starter in Zito, makes no sense. If Pedro goes down (cross my fingers), then maybe you make this trade. Otherwise, they can tough it out this season and then make a run for Zito in free agency.
I think they'll wind up making a trade for someone like Odalis Perez, Tony Armas, Sele. Someone who wouldn't take a lot to get because they have big contracts that the Mets will have to take on. I'd love to see them make a move for Piniero, but with the way he is pitching this year i doubt seattle would trade him
