I had high hopes for him pre-season just like many people here in the cafe. But he has been playing like crap up to this point, to a point where I began to bench him outright and play no one at 2B because he's been hurting me so much. He's had a few "good" games(like today) which made me think that he's back on track and prompting me to re-insert him, only to have a string of 0-4 games afterwards. What's everyone doing with Ellis these days? Is it time to dump him? Keep him benched? Thanks in advance.

I just don't know. He's been terrible this year. I'd say he's dragging my team down, but the rest of the team is managing that without his help.
If there were anyone on the WW at all I'd pick them up and drop Ellis at this point.

Guess which player topped the Hardball TImes list of players likely to drop back to earth in 2006?

he does horribly in the beginning of years. the only reason he is even on the fantasy radar is because of his insane second half. he is a very streaky hitter and benefits from the warm weather and getting comfortable.
that being said, i still dont think he will ever be of any fantasy revelance because he doesnt steal a lot of bags, doesnt score many runs, doesnt have much power or RBI totals. just wait for july if you are really hurting for a 2b. he will hit around .300 in the second half.

With Kendall serving a four game suspension and Ellis hitting well the last couple of games he could be moved back to the top of the order and get hot.No options in my AL only so I'm sticking with him

He's raised his OPS almost 200 points in the last 7 games and has drawn two-thirds (6/9) of his season's walks in that stretch. Maybe, just maybe he is coming around? Of course that's just looking at numbers, since I've only actually seen him a couple of times against the Tigers earlier this year.
