Anybody know anything about Ron Villone from the Astros?

He's a career 5.0 ERA pitcher yet he's been doing great this year for the Astros. He's had quality starts in all six games pitched with a 2.30 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 43 innings, pretty impressive. But what I like best about him is that he has 36 Ks , which is a pretty decent rate. Plus in his 30 innings in AAA this year he had a 1.23 ERA. With a strong Astro's lineup to back him up if he keeps this up he should be good for a bunch of wins.

Is he just a flash in the pan who will come crashing down or does anybody know if he's done something to improve himslf like Loiaza has done this year?

He's a career journeyman who never lived up to his potential. The K potential was always there but he just never really panned out. I saw that he was doing well also but haven't made the move yet. If you pick him up, keep an open mind and accept the good with the bad. Anything that you get from him is a plus. Are there no better and safer options out there for you?
