I was just wondering what's up with BJ Upton. I like knowing how some of these DRays players are doing since they are an exciting team to follow because of their young talent. I just remembered Upton when I referred to him in another thread about how he was all the hype 2 years ago when he came up and then basically did nothing.

I know he was never good at fielding but he really didn't do anything batting those few months he was up last year and in 04. So is he basically a bust now and got his shot already in the majors? I was just wondering what the reason was for him staying down in Durham so long and why they haven't moved him up again. Is there infield full or something or is he just playing really bad?

hybrid? warrick? I know there's some pretty smart DRay fans around here.

His bat is ML ready, but where can they put him?

They cant put him at SS because well....he sucks!

And their OF is already stacked as it is.

My Guess: He gets traded for pitching

The problem w/ him always has been his defense, as his bat was pretty much major league ready at 19/20.

He is still a great prospect, just one that will probably be moved off of SS in the future. He is nothing close to a bust and IMO is a better hitter then almost everyone on the Rays. As a hitter I mean the ability to take a pitch, hit for avg. and power.

just curious hybrid, how many times have you been asked something along these lines in the past couple of years? :-D

but anyway, i see where you're coming from red stripe, and hybrid is dead on. bj will still be a very solid bat when he gets the call. it just seems like its taking forever for him to make his presence known at the major league level. (i know b/c i've had him on my minor league roster for two years now. :-° )
