How long do you guys expect him to keep the closer role in Texas? Is it kind of indefinitely? Are any of you guys starting to get offers for Otsuka? If you were, would you entertain any of them, assuming F Cordero will re-take the closer role some time soon? Or are you sticking with Otsuka, hoping he will have the role for the rest of the season? What do you guys think?
But really I am riding him, no one is really offering anything for him, no one is really sure how long he will the closer. I think it's his job to lose.
i've gotten interest from the cordero owners, some of whom may have thought otsuka could hold the job all year. i didnt pull the trigger though because i still couldnt get what i wanted out of it.

That's what is odd; nobody knows if he can or will hold the job all year. Nothing is coming from the Texas camp or from Showalter, so it's sort of a guessing game. Maybe they are going to wait and see how it goes. If anyone has a link with an update go ahead and post it...
i think if you get the point where you have squeezed 10 saves out of him, and he still has the role, it might be wise to think about dealing him. Its 10 more saves than you counted on, he would probably only get 20 more if he kept the job, but he probably won't. So, I think the net saves yielded in a trade might not be as much as the mirage of more coming.
And as one poster said, if it is make or break on a deal, I wouldn't "sell" him too hard, just deal it to grease it. People are bound to have wildly different expectations. The best person to deal with might be the cordero owners if you want something guaranteed. But, you are only trading them "insurance" so they might not give up too much, as it would be a double whammy of yielding talent, they would be giving a player away (from their perspective) free.
I'm guessing Cordero will get the job back once he starts pitching consistently again, regardless of how well Otsuka performs in the role. No one knows when that'll happen, but Cordero seems like he's slowly turning around.
