I don't like extra offensive players cluttering up my bench, though at this point in the season I've got a few while waiting to see who will break out and whose slumps extends deep into the summer.

Usually I'm down to one bench bat after the break, preferably a multi-position and/or multi-cat performer to plug for days off or short-term (non-DL) injury.

By the time playoffs are approaching, all or most of my bench is devoted to pitching ... and don't overlook middle relievers with strong ratios and/or nice K rates.

Just one guy's approach, but there you have it.
