i think the Padres should get some consideration here. any team that can be accused of having used mark bellhorn in the cleanup spot should automatically be nominated.

I actually think the Royals and Pirates have better offenses than the Twins and Padres and the Cubs current lineup. The Cubs Opening Day offense is much better than these crappy teams they are compared to know. The Padres offense is very pathetic though. Brian Giles is their leading hitter batting .274 and they couldn't even score a run until the 8th and 11th inning the last two games.

FWIW, The Pirates have the worst RC27 in the last 7 days with 1.31, followed by the Cubs with 1.81
After that, Twins (2.77), Royals (2.83) and Angels (2.98)

The Royals have scored the fewest runs.

Even if you adjust for park and strength of schedule, the Royals have a lower AEQR than any team in the league.

And any NL team that's above them would only improve if they were able to replace their pitcher's stats with a DH.

It's not even worth debating. Sure, there may be teams that are going through streaks where they play worse than the Royals.

But, the Royals are the worst offensive team this season, by a pretty large margin.

Rotoworld:
Aramis Ramirez has been dropped to the fifth spot in Saturday's lineup. Jacque Jones is batting cleanup.
Desperation. Jones is actually hitting right-handers very well, but putting him back-to-back with fellow left-handed hitter Todd Walker could hurt the Cubs in the late innings. Ramirez is batting .198 in 91 at-bats.

The Tribunne Corp proving once again the wisdom of their FA pickups...LOL.

The Cubs are now up to 26 consecutive innings (and counting) without scoring a run. Pathethic.

Well, they just scored one off Jake Peavy. I think I may have overpaid for his 4.36 era.

As to the original question: The Cubs are by far not the worst offensive team in the majors. Aram has a measly .182 BABIP right now. With DLee out, he's their main offensive threat. When his hits start falling, the Cubs will start scoring a good deal more often.

Adjust anything you want. To date, the Royals are scoring more than half a run less than the Cubs, despite the fact that they get to use a DH and the Cubs don't. The Royals are behind the Cubs even with that advantage...so, the Cubs can't be the worst, unless you want to change the meaning of the word worst.

eh, i just dont argree with you.

It's not about whether you agree with him or not, it's about the numbers.

The Royals have simply been the worst hitting team in baseball this year, though I agree, the Cubs could definitely make a case if they continue to suck like this until Lee comes back.

Cubs:
Wed 1 run
Thurs 0 runs
Fri 0 runs
Sat 1 run

They have to be catching up fast.
