Alex Gordon getting called up???

what type of an impact do you guys think Gordon will have this year? Enough to warrant Non-Keeper Mixed League attention?

Guys, we're forgetting one important point in this discussion. The Royals management has no clue on how to run a team or how to use players.

They've already brought up Justin Huber, another top prospect, to sit on the bench and be a pinch hitter. They think he's somehow going to develop quickly if he plays only one or two days a week in the majors rather than 5 days in AAA. They're playing Mientkiewicz in front of him for God's sakes.

If they do call up Gordon, they'll probably call up Teahen at the same time, and then sit Gordon behind him.

If it's not apparent already, I'm a bitter Royals fan.

I don't see them calling Gordon up for more than a cup of coffee before September this year. He's doing pretty well in Wichita but is hardly tearing the place apart(.937 OPS). In fact, I don't see the point of calling him up at all and I seriously doubt you should get excited about him this year.

Well whether he gets the call now or in September, it's good to know there'll be an impact player available if the guy with #1 waiver takes Hamels, as I have #2 and #3 priority in my money keeper leagues.

I have him and hope he stays in the minors until Sept. If he comes up and stays more then two weeks I have to activate him and I will lose a year on his contract.

Obviously, Hamels has jumped a bit because of his performance this year, but Gordon getting called up is a bigger deal IMO.

Agreed. And this year BA has Gordon 13th and Hamels 68th although his rankings are always limited by injuries.

You really can't compare Gordon and Hamels. Also, BA rankings were done before 06. Obviously current performance does count evidenced by Hamels being on top of Prospect Hotsheet for second week in a row.

That being said, I'm leaning on Hamels at this point. He's already in the majors and unless you are in a keeper league, I doubt Gordon will help you.

Historically, pitchers have an easier time adjusting to the majors, especially before hitters get used to them. Just saying.
