The K's are there, its just his control isn't. I've heard 2 rumors about why he's struggling. Johjima is calling for too many breaking pitches, and that he is tipping his pitches. He needs to blow guys away with his fastball.

I hope he figures things out, cuz he's been KILLIN me. :-o

the thing about jojhima makes sense, because he doesnt speak much english and i dont think felix does either, so maybe there are communication issues.

"The answer is that we don't know," manager Mike Hargrove said. "We were talking about that last night. It sure seems like they took a lot of close breaking pitches. And they were right on breaking pitches when it wasn't a breaking pitch situation. It got us wondering." If Hernandez is not tipping pitches it's difficult to explain his giving up so many hits with such dominant stuff.

Also, he pitched, perhaps his best game of the year when Rivera was catching him. Johjima is used to the Japanese leagues, where they throw lots of breaking balls.

Felix's fastball today was topping out around 91 mph . . . not going to blow anyone away with that. Johjima's probably calling all breaking pitches because Felix can't locate his fastball at all.

rivera caught for him today and he still got tagged. I don't think the problem is Johjima, as Kloops says - Felix can't locate his good fastball, gets behind on hitter's counts and they tag him. It takes much more than a great stuff to succeed at a dominant level in this league, as many people would point out.

That was definitely the case against Chicago. Regardless of what pitch he was throwing, it was missing. He was working from behind all day.
