Liriano?

Postby mikebal9 » Thu May 04, 2006 11:48 am

Any word on when Liriano will be starting? He got dropped by an impatient owner and i want to pick him up. I can use him in my relief spot in place of the awful Burgos, but I think he'd be more valuable as a starter.

I would easily pick up Liriano and drop Burgos regardless.

However I don't think the Twins are in a big rush to insert Liriano into the starting rotation yet. As others have said in this forum, they'll probably bring him along slowly like they did with Santana.

but one would think he comes into the rotation soon, since the twins have three starters pushing era's up and around the 9's. I don't recall santana being in a staff like that when he was in the pen.

Strange...all spring training there was all this talk about how liriano probably wouldnt get a spot in the twins roster since they wanted to keep his pitches up as a starter at the minors until he gets a roto spot...now, twins management is making all sorts of excuses just to keep him a reliver. I for one can't stomach this injustice for much longer. :-t

I would expect him to be starting after the break in any case.

But the way the Twins' season is going, they're fast approaching elimination status even in early May. With so many starters underperforming, it'll be hard to justify keeping the kid bottled up if a couple of them don't turn it around in their next start or two.
