My team lacks a star.. What to do??

I dont seem to have a star on my team right now. I thought I was getting one when I traded for Cabrera (gave: F. Lopez/Mora/Heilman. got: Cabrera/Lowe/Polanco) but he hasnt been producing like one. Same with Bay and Peavy.. not living up to expectations. I've been trying to package Magglio and Mike Gonzalez for a good starter but no one wants Gonzo since the Pirates stink. I am currently in 12th place out of 16 teams. What needs to be done??
