Just saw this on ESPN:

Albert Pujols, StL
DATE: 05-02-2006
STATUS: Day-To-Day

Pujols was not in the starting lineup for Tuesday afternoon's game against the Reds with a sore lower back, the Cardinals' television broadcast reports.

Doesn't sound like a big deal...probably just a combination of an afternoon game on a travel day combined with minor aches and pains...makes sense to give him the day off.

What is it, a two team league? Let me guess, your opponent is killing you with his Ortiz, Hafner, Teixeira?

I'm going against him this week, so hopefully he's out for the whole week. That and I'm a cub fan, so he can be out for the season for all I care.

YIKES!!! :-o

Albert Pujols (1B) STL - May 03
http://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.htm?id=6642

Pujols' back has been really hurting him since sliding into first base on April 23, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Cardinals and Pujols aren't even sure that he'll be available to play Wednesday against Houston. "I've been taking treatment for the last week and obviously it's not getting better," Pujols said, "I thought I would have to call 911 to help me up so I could come down to the ballpark." While a stint on the DL is unlikely at this point, it's not out of the question.

This came as absolutely no surprise to me. At all.

I live in stl. If anyone else does, they will second the fact that the media here NEVER says a bad/discouraging thing about the cardinals ever (I am exagerating, but seriously, it is very 'spun'). A while ago I heard them talking to Pujols' wife on the radio (I have NO sources/links/whatever) but she was saying that she has never seen him so tired and in so much pain before, and she specifcally mentioned his lower back, which I have been noticing he has come up holding several times after at bats the last coupla weeks... Anyway, I don't think that it is anything serious at all (THAT at least would be all over the press here), but he has been nagged by this for a bit...
This game means nothing.... unless I'm winning!
