Yankees are among the best. Their franchise value is over a billion. They make some awful free agent signings but its all of their other revenue streams that make up for it, unlike other teams. And they are going to make more money in 2009 with the luxury suites in the new stadium.
As long as they have the revenue coming in, they will be able to go out and put a competitive and MARKETABLE team out on the field.
Too bad the guy in KC missed the chance to lock up a fan favorite like Beltran, a few years before his free agency, for the long-term. They'll have another shot soon with the Alex Gordons and Billy Butlers of the world. KC will not be a big market but they have potential to be a mid market team like Cleveland. Maybe they should take a hint and lock up the Butlers and Gordons around age 25 or 26 and build a team around them.
