Sheffield could have broken hand bone

Postby gbill2004 » Sun Apr 30, 2006 2:09 pm

ESPN is reporting that Gary Sheffield has been sent for more tests on his injured left hand. The Yankees fear he's suffered a broken hamate bone.
A broken hamate bone is usually a four- to six-week injury and could result in a loss of power after he returns. At the moment, Sheffield remains listed as day-to-day.

Is it me or does Gary Sheffield have a hand injury every season that seems to suggest he'll miss games but he keeps playing nevertheless?

Praise Allah!

"Apr 30 Updating previous reports, New York Yankees OF Gary Sheffield (wrist) was examined Sunday, April 30, by team physician Stuart Hershon, according to the Associated Press. An MRI revealed no injuries other than a bruised left wrist, and Sheffield is listed as day-to-day."

Sheffield was examined Sunday by team physician Stuart Hershon. An MRI revealed no additional injuries, and the right fielder was day to day with a bruised left wrist. This is the type of injury that could keep him out through most of the week. If you have healthier options that you trust, go ahead and start them. If Sheffield plays six out of seven games this week, feel comfortable with the fact that you played it safe.
