It shouldn't take AL pitchers long to figure out that he swings at ANYTHING!! Just throw him a high fastball, and watch him hack away. He can't lay off the high fastball, at least he couldn't in the past. Maybe he turned a corner, I don't know, but I know he's hot right now, and the power/speed combo is nice!!
There is no doubt he has potential. For the cost of picking him up for nothing off the free agent list, I think it is very worth it, if you can handle the hit to your batting average. Guys that can hit 25 HRs and steal 30 bases are very hard to come by. Perhaps he is getting it together.
I think it is worth a shot based on potential and cost.
Basically I'm complicated.
I have a hard time taking the easy way
I wouldn't call it schizophrenia
But Ill be at least two people today

No, in fact he went 0 for 4 off Lilly, he got his hit and RBI off a terrible leftie reliever.
And his time in the lead-off spot appears to have been short lived. He's back to hitting sixth today with Fahey leading off and it's against a rightie starter as well.

hitting 6 or 7 is best for him, I'm glad to see him down in the order tonight.
One thing I don't like about the cubs fans are they have no patience at all. ( Look at Jacque Jones this year, less than 20 games into the year and they already boo him for hitting .200, no wonder the guy is trying to do way to much right now!). Once Corey started striking out alot last year, all he heard was boos from the wrigley crowd, and that damages a player when you can't come home to your own fan base.
I am glad to see him go and succeed somewhere else, he is a player that I believe will do well with a change of scenery. I always believed he could be a Carlos Beltran type of player with a little less average, and he will be. I think he will put up these kind of numbers: .270 22 hr 65 rbi 72 r 28sb

Patterson faces Kevin Millwood (0-for-8, seven Ks), Curt Schilling (0-for-3, two Ks), Tim Wakefield (0-for-6, two Ks) and Josh Beckett (0-for-3, one K). While he has been incredibly hot the last week, you might want to temper your expectations of what he'll accomplish this week, given his history against the pitchers he'll be facing. ---
Wow 0-8 with 7Ks! That's the definition of "owning" someone.
