Pretty sure it was just precautionary, in order to allow him to rest the knee. He hit and RBI single, had a slight limp on his way to first and was then pulled for a pinch runner. Mariners announcers sounded like they thought the O's were just being careful with their best player ...

As a Tejada owner I hope that's the case.

Miguel Tejada was removed from Saturday's game in the sixth inning due to soreness in his hyperextended left knee.
Tejada was clearly bothered from his knee right from the start, which begs the question of why he didn't DH rather than play shortstop. He was removed for a pinch-runner after a single. We're guessing that he will DH on Sunday. Apr. 29 - 6:49 pm et

This didn't happen because he tried too hard to make plays on defense...it hurts to watch him lollygag in the infield day in and day out.

tejada`s knee has been a bit sore lately so it was probably precautionary.. he`ll most likely be in tomorrow`s lineup after he rests up.

Miguel Tejada's knee is healthy according to tests run on Saturday.
"No damage of any kind, and he's ready to go," said manager Sam Perlozzo. "It's behind the knee, but more hamstring [than knee]. He seems pretty good. He had good strength and minimal soreness." Tejada will continue to start games, but might DH rather than play short for a couple games.
