Jose Canseco was the first major league player to put together 40 homeruns and 40 steals in a season, and has since been matched by Barry Bonds and Alex Rodriguez. However, this feat was almost accomplished years earlier. What player missed a 40-40 season by just 1 HR, and what year did he do it in?

(edit: yeah, I know this one is kinda easy, but there's no point making them *too* obscure...)

Just guessing here: Bobby Bonds? Somewhere in the early to mid-seventies? I may be wrong, but I'm sure he at least came close a couple times...

Bobby Bonds is absolutely correct. And he did it in 1973. Give yourself 2 gold stars on that one. :->
