TB Acquires Tyler Walker

uh-oh...looks like the closer situation in TB just got more cloudy as the D-Rays picked up Walker from SF. He's got experience at it so is there a strong chance he'd get the nod as closer over Orvella?

i dont think he can beat out orvella. walker got released for a reason. he stinks right now and he doesnt have much upside. even when he was closing he wasnt doing that great of a job.

He was awful as a closer. I don't see it happening.

Apr. 28 The Giants acquired Carlos Hines (P) SF from the Devil Rays Friday for Tyler Walker, according to the AP. Hines won't be added to the Giants 40-man roster and will report to Triple-A Fresno. He held a 4.50 ERA in 10 innings at Triple-A Durham prior to the trade.
Apr. 28 The Giants sent Tyler Walker (P) TB to the Devil Rays on Friday in exchange for right-handed pitcher Carlos Hines, according to the AP. Walker had been designated for assignment on Sunday. He holds a 15.19 ERA in six appearances this year.

I'm thinking TB will either stick him in middle relief or AAA. No way he gets even a sniff of late inning situations.

Looking at TB's pen...he's better than most of the guys they currently have in the bullpen. Now if they smartly put McClung, Hendrickson, and Weatcher in the pen they could insert Jackson, Hammel, & Niemann in the rotation. I'm all for letting arms develop but with TB's current staff they can devlop much more quickly in the majors. I personally think McClung would be an excellent closer.
