Neither has been announced as a closer and I expect it to remain that way. Gordon gets most of the easier save opportunities but in a tight game he has a short hook. Marte is the most consistent man and pitches alot. You can't lose with Damaso Marte.

keep in mind that gordon was brought in for the save in the ninth last night with KIELTY, WELLS and DELGADO due up.....not exactly facing the easiest outs. so this shows that manuel has confidence in gordon, but unfortunately also has another option in marte should gordon get into trouble (which he did last night).
the best bet is that unless the chisox get another solid lefty in the pen, manuel will be forced to use marte (southpaw) in situational matchups later in the game which will leave flash for the save.

I just wonder how long Manuel will have a job. With the whole closer mess and the R. Alomar/Everett attitudes to contend with. Watch for the Sox to become a sinking ship down the stretch. They're just lucky they are in the AL Central.

the last save Gordon got was when he pitched 2 innings.
So I understand why Marte was the option the next night and got the save.
then last night he went back to Gordon, but he was facing tough hitters like he said and when you have 2 closers and one gets in trouble you use the other one.
I still think Gordon is the favorite with them changing roles a few times.
