Crawford's slow start.

Im starting to worry a little about crawford's slow start. The basestealing doesnt seem to be a problem, but everything elseis lagging behing. Anyone think this slow start is a cause for concern, or is it simply a slump hell break out of en route to the numbers we expected?

I was thinking the same thing tonight. I think he will come through though. I think the only reason people are getting so frustrated so early is because we see the Ty Wigginton's and Chris Shelton's tearing it up and a lot of early picks are starting off slow.

thought it was wrist. that, coupled with his grandmother passing away can take its toll.

in the long run, he will be fine. i hope.

yeah its getting hard to stomach... i've been sitting him and only starting him when i get down runs and/or steals.

He's got me worried a little right now, too. The shoulder is a concern because it looks like something that won't put him on the DL but it could sap his power all year if he never gets to 100%. Yeah, he's not a homerun hitter, but he was increasing his HR totals his first three years and his 15 last year is a good total for a speedster-- certainly a lot more than you'll get from Freel, Pods, or Pierre.

My other concern is that his steal attempts are down this year. This trend started the second half of last season. That might be good for the Rays in real life, but I want aggressiveness for my fantasy team.

He'll rebound to post numbers similar to last year. He got off to a slow start in 2005 and improved as the year went on. Sadly though, I doubt 2006 will be the monster year that CC is capable of and many people have been predicting. He has been nagged by injuries (wrist, shoulder, etc.) and the Devil Rays are a mess this year. Gomes is the only one really hitting on the team. CC will go 315-20-110-90-50 one year but 2006 is not gonna be it.

As I predicted before season Crawford is not a 1st round pick. Stated that if he stopped running for any reason such as attitude (like he did late last year) or minor injury not serious enough to keep out of lineup, then he was just little better than avg leftfielder.
I have had Crawford last two yrs but knew that he would be way overvalued this year. Sure glad he was chosen in my leagues 1st round so Ortiz could drop to me at #9!

Crawfird will be fine. His shoulder injury isn't bothering him too much. He hyperextended it in one play. He didn't sprain it, he didn't fracture it. He may not be 100%, but I don't see this injury as cause for concern.
