Hawpe the real deal?

Postby johnsamo » Thu Apr 27, 2006 3:53 pm

I know it's early but he's looking really good, even away from Coors. Just hit another dinger today. Any Rockie fans know thescoop on this guy?

Probably the best raw power potential on the Rockies (aside from Helton). Hits both at home and on the road, and has a great outfield arm.

I think with the protection he has (Helton, Atkins, Holliday) its really helping him and will ensure he gets good pitches to hit.

I think he can be a very good ball player for years to come. Definetly showing a good start!

the amazing thing is he seems to be hitting better away from coors than at coors.

listen to avs - he's the cafe's resident Rockie guy.

the term "real deal" is subjective though. he does look like a player.

he does terrible against leftys though, the only downside

I have bad luck when it comes to signatures that the person either gets traded or hurt...in this case I hope he gets traded.

mmhm, that is the only downside. other than that, he`s on his way to becoming a great hitter for years to come.

Thanks 5... I try anyways. I can't say I'm as knowledgeable about the Rockies in and out as some people I know, but I'm definetly a die hard. ;-D

Hawpe hasn't faced lefties all that much. Just a sample size so far, but I think when he gets consistent ABs against lefties this year (tonight is the first lefty the Rox are facing as a SP!) he'll be decent.

Hey, you were one of the guys keeping me updated with the Atkins will-he-or-won't-he-play thread last weekend. He looks healthy to me... ;-D
