Slow starts.. worried?

Rickie Weeks

Justin Mourneau

Brad Wilkerson

Pretty dissapointed with all of them. I guess Mourneau has been fairly decent with the power but AVG sucks and has been very streaky, also K are way up.
Wilkerson has been a disaster that has been even dropped to 7th. I heard some shoulder problems, even from last season. Seems to be headed to DL or stink all year.
Weeks, knowing the risk of discipline issues but 0 HR and 288 SLG. At least he is scoring some runs. Theres some hope having him in the top of the lineup.

What have you guys done with these slow starters...
Also... Carl Crawford 329 SLG .. Im expecting a whole lot more.

Worried is a relative term which depends on what each person expected out of those guys.

Personally, I expected nothing from Wilkerson. Career .254 hitter.

Morneau hit .239 last year and is a career .245 hitter. Figured he'd hit better than .245 this year (and he probably will), but didn't expect anything out of him either.

Same thing for Weeks. .239 last year, .237 career, so didn't expect much.

Hard to be worried about guys like that.

They'll all be fine. Wilkerson won't hit for that high of an average but he has 25 HR power in that park for sure.

Weeks is just a young guy, he'll turn it around. He's have some mental issues right now but I'm sure he'll work through it. I really wouldn't worry about his batting average from last year, that was almost 100% due to his injury.

What did people expect Morneau to do considering his lefty split?

Wilkerson's been bothered by injuries and should hit about 25 HRs.

Weeks is still young and learning so he could turn it around really quickly.

I say try to trade them, if not just drop them and keep an eye on them. Chances are if you are in a shallow league no one will touch them anyways. ;-D

Wilkerson has been horrendous. I would be especially worried about his shoulder. It might not be bothering too much now, but, it could in a month or two. He had two cortisone shots in ST alone!!! I am trying to trade him for Matt Murton who I think will be much more productive.

I just dropped Morneau for Liriano. I was disappointed as hell when one of my fellow league mates grabbed him off the free agent wire just as I was thinking about doing it. Figured maybe if I was patient the guy would drop him, sure enough he did. Morneau was the weakest link on my roster, so pink slip it was.

Morneau will certainly jack a few, but his BA & runs scored won't be very good IMO.
