Jon Lester 4 Real?

Postby nathan050904 » Wed Apr 26, 2006 6:42 pm

Is Jon Lester really a good pitching prospect? He has an era of above 7 after 3 games. I am wondering if he just had a good year and was beating up on weaker competition.

I have him to . I picked him up this year hoping he would help me next year. He got off to a bad stop starting in ST and it seems to have continued. But it looks like hes coming around. Bad starts can make your ERA take a while to come down. By the way . It was Lester that started the Delmon Young bat throing incident by striking him out.I also have Young.Oh well.

He is a great pitching prospect. You can't necessarily judge based on his minor league outings. You dont know what he is working on. He might be working on one pitch throwing it over and over trying to perfect it.

His talent is top notch, I wouldnt worry.

He is still a top prospect, he has just had a few bad games. Pawtuckett says he is throwing the ball well, just not locating his pitches yet.

Straight outta Beantown, Lester is on a strict 60 pitch count. I'm under the impression the Sox will bring him up this year and use him as an essential arm out of the pen, a la Papelbon 2005. The goal is to provide some confidence into next year, when he will be in the rotation...no ifs and or buts. That is why the statistics are bloated and why he's only going about 3-5 innings each "start".
