I'm stuck in 11th position in my 12 team yahoo H2H league, and while i'm fairly certian that i need to shake up the pot a little bit. i think i may have made some mistakes (Beltre), but i have positions of strength (outfield) elsewhere to cover them up if i deal.

C J. Mauer
1B J. Morneau
2B M. Loretta
3B P. Polanco
SS J. Rollins
OF J. Bay
OF V. Wells
OF G. Sizemore
Util N. Johnson
BN C. Crawford
BN A. Béltre

SP J. Schmidt
SP J. Contreras
RP M. Rivera
RP B. Fuentes
P B. Zito
P J. Weaver
P S. Kazmir
BN J. Blanton
BN J. Washburn
DL N. Lowry

notible FAs: E. Encarnacion, G. Chacin, H. Ramiez, J. Lopez, and a number of outfielders (Rowand, Dye, Ordonez, and Granderson among others)

any advice would be greatly appricated

Your hitting could definitely use some help.

I'd drop Beltre for Encarnacion, and see what sorts of trade options are out there for Morneau. If there's nothing, then drop him, plug in Johnson at 1B, and pick up Dye.

i think it's a combination of a bad team and underperforming. i'd say you have a 6th to 8th place team, and the underperformance has brought it down to its current 11th place.

i'd try to trade mauer, rollins, v wells, and possibly bay in 2 for 1s to upgrade quality, and pick up javy lopez, hanley ramirez, and dye/granderson/rowand to replace them. pick up edwin encarnacion and use him at 3b over polanco.

hold onto beltre and crawford. your staff should also improve when lowry returns.

it's not a horrible team, but...

...you need some more power. I wouldn't trade Rollins though, and yoúr pitching is decent but not good enough to trade away for the power you need. Comb the waiver wires and try to find an available power hitter.

Good luck!

pitching looks fairly decent, you definitely could use some power in your line up though. try picking up dye off waivers if he is available, he is off to a great start.

Thanks for the advice guys, i must admit, that sometimes its hard to be too critical of your own team, i mean these are the guys you draft, so you obviously like them. one thing though, i haven't made a move at 3b yet (Encarnacion was taken essentially right as I posted the first message), and Melvin Mora just hit the waiver wire. what are your thoughts on him vs. Beltre

HaHa... just reviving this thread on a team whose fortunes have changed significantly, as its now in second place. amazing what differance 3 1/2 months, some persistance, and a different weaver make. also funny how some of the suggestions early in the year would have killed this team. heres who it now stands:

C: Mauer (glad I didn't trade him)
1B: Morneau (ditto)
2B: Barfield (just playing the hot hand)
3B: Mora
SS: Rollins
OF: Bay
OF: Crawford
OF: Wells
Util: Lugo
Bn: Sizemore
DL: Sheffield

SP: Jered Weaver (deffinate upgrade over his brother)
SP: Bedard
RP:Rivera
RP: Otsuka
P: Fuentes
P: Contreras
P: Scott Olsen
Bn: Josh Johnson, Zito,Schmidt, Kazmir

given that the team has come all the way back from 11th to second, what do you think its chances would be to end a fairly competive league as champ?

Your team was definitely underperforming and you have a chance to win it all, obviously. I would try and move Sizemore for a better 3rd baseman, as you are obviously below average there with Mora playing for you. Don't give up Sizemore without getting a really good 3rd baseman, though.

Nice run, I agree that 3rd base is a weak area, but I think I would offer Bay around. I like Sizemore and he does have a nice combo of speed and power, I think Bay plays on a weak team that unloaded most of its productive players but he has name vlue and could net a stud 3rd baseman (i.e Miguel Cabrera or David Wright)
