Left-hander Noah Lowry is scheduled to throw a simulated game today in which he is expected to make 60-70 pitches. If it goes well, Lowry could make a rehabilitation start Friday, possibly with Class A San Jose.
Lowry strained a right oblique muscle in his first start of the season.
``The key for him is to increase intensity,'' trainer Stan Conte said. ``We know this particular injury has to do with intensity of throwing.''
Conte said Lowry needs ``at least one, maybe two'' rehabilitation starts.
Lowry said he felt ``no tightness or soreness'' after a 70-pitch bullpen session Saturday.
