I want him to heat up. I just don't know if he will.

I think there are better days ahead for Lieber. He is indeed very streaky. Check his May and June stats last year. He still put together a decent season, although a large amount of his value is tied to wins.

His lowest ERA as a strater was 3.70 he's been over 4 the last couple years, why would it suddenly drop to 3.50. I want to know if he win 14-15 games this year without killing a teams ERA?

As was noted, Lieber is too streaky to start every matchup. He is a play when he is hot pitcher and bench/cut when he is not. He will heat up and post decent numbers and Ws for awhile. But that makes him very marginal in the big picture. He simply has too many bad streaks and shellings.

Lieber is a proven consistent journeyman starter. He plays for a good team and pitches a lot of innings, which equates to good number of wins.

He is far froma #1 or even a #3 fantasy pitcher, but I do not see how can be dismissed as junk, even if his K rate and ratios are not so hot. At the end of the season he will put up his usual solid but unspectacular performance. I would say that he is not WW garbage in a 12 team leage now and surely will not be by mid-summer by another 10 SPs are on the DL.

I will always be happy to take a guy like Lieber to fill out the last SP spot on my roster. Over a full season, you will typically do much better with this approach rather than trying to catch lightening a bottle with a "hot" starter or the flavor of the month 24 year old.

Who is on your WW that you are so eager to pick up for Lieber?

I'm debating whether or not to pick him up. I just traded Bush and was looking for someone to fill that 6SP spot.

I could see picking him up for a bench slot now, but not an active slot. He has been brutal so far and there is no reason to start him until he gets his act together.

I'd wait to see how the new Phillies rotation works out- it did wonders for Cory Frickin' Lidle!

In a mixed league I think you have to play the matchups with Lieber. He isn't great, but he can be a productive member of your pitching staff.

I have him in a NL only league that has no bench and players can't be dropped unless they get sent to the DL or minors. I'm sweating him right now, but I have confidence I'll get 14 W's 4.00 ERA and 1.25 WHIP from him by the end of the year.
