Everyone's missing the most-obvious reason for Damon's slow start.
The hair! His power was in his hair!
On the other hand, it could be that he's going to hit exactly what he's hit the last 3 seasons AWAY from Fenway park:
At Fenway: .318/.388/.448, .836 OPS
Away: .278/.340/.433, .773 OPS
So far this year: .278/.346/.417, 763 OPS
That's pretty much what he's done on the road the last 3 years.
2006:
Home: .280/.321/.440, .761 OPS
Away: .277/.358/.404, .762 OPS
It looks to me like this is his established level:
something like .275/.345/.425, .770 OPS
