He's pitched 2 solid games in a row now and he has a decent K rate. His WHIP is 1.01. Last night he probably should not have come in the pitch the 7th b/c he was already over 100 pitches and he served up a 2 run shot to Koskie.
It looks like his problem so far this year is the long ball. In 87 innings last year he gave up 8HR and this year through 25 innings he has given up 6.
What does everyone think about this guy? I like the K's and I like the WHIP, but his #'s last year were not very good. Was he a heralded prospect or is he pitching over his head right now? [/i]
Generally I wouldn't question Cox and his decisions. However, yesterday, there was no reason to let Davies go out for the 7th. The kid is good, just watch his pitch count, after all, he ain't Johan.
I dropped Gathright for him. I could use the pitching help. Last year, I had good luck picking up Patterson, Capuano, Blanton and Byrd. Maybe I get lucky again this year.
After all, this is the guy Cox said looks like a 20-game winner. I think Cox knows more than I do.

This could be an indication that Cox is not confident in his bullpen.

I'd take my chances with Davies..better supporting cast. I'm in the same situation I think I had better options as FA than you do and I still went with Davies.

He will be good, but he's young and inexperienced right now. He's only 22, but I think he will be a solid #2 pitcher someday. I still think he's a year away, but will still have a decent year this year. He just has to be consistent.
