In 2nd Place; Need some closers

Postby SimpleAsThat » Mon Apr 24, 2006 9:47 pm

I'm currently in 2nd place but am not too confident in my team. My main problem is saves, where I am currently in last. I would love some advice on how I should go about trying to get a closer on my team. Maybe sell high on Vernon Wells and try to get a closer in return. My current standings (11 being the best; 1 the worst)

Runs: 4; HR: 10; RBI: 11; SB: 5.5; RBI: 11; AVG: 11; W: 9.5; SV: 1; K: 9; ERA: 6; WHIP: 6.

Yahoo Roto League, 5 x 5, 11 teams. My team:

C R. Hernández (Bal - C)
1B C. Delgado (NYM - 1B)
2B J. Cantú (TB - 2B,3B)
3B G. Atkins (Col - 3B)
SS C. Barmes (Col - SS)
OF Mi. Cabrera (Fla - 3B,OF)
OF B. Abreu (Phi - OF)
OF N. Swisher (Oak - 1B,OF)
Util V. Wells (Tor - OF)
BN M. Bradley (Oak - OF)
BN B. Molina (Tor - C)
SP D. Willis (Fla - SP)
SP K. Rogers (Det - SP)
RP B. Ryan (Tor - RP)
RP B. Fuentes (Col - RP)
P F. García (CWS - SP)
P J. Putz (Sea - RP)
P K. Calero (Oak - RP)
BN R. Oswalt (Hou - SP)
BN M. Mulder (StL - SP)
BN K. Davies (Atl - SP,RP)
BN P. Byrd (Cle - SP)
BN V. Padilla (Tex - SP)

WHIR. Thanks.

Team Overal

Offensively, you are set to go. That is one stacked lineup!!! :-D

You actually have a pretty rotation, except you don't have the right guys in!

What is Roy Oswalt and Mark Mulder doing on the bench? They are way better than Putz and Calero. I suggest trading Oswalt for a bona-fide closer ( especially since your not useing him anyways) and you should probably take out Putz and put in Mulder.

My suggestion, DO NOT TRADE Vernon Wells as Bradley will presumably be suspended soon anway.

After you change up your rotation, I think you will be on your way to a 1st place finish. ;-D

Oswalt and Mulder are not really on my bench. They just started games recently so they are only on my bench temporarily. I need to change my roster insert. Sorry for the confusion.

Rather than give up Oswalt, I would prefer to give up a hitter for a closer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Actually, trading Huff would be a good choice. I just assumed that since he was on the bench, you wanted to trade him.

Until he his suspended Milton Bradley would fill in nicely for Huff, who would fetch someone good.

Good Luck on your team! ;-D

You are stacked with starting pitching IMO
I would trade off a starter and try and get Dempster. He is going to have an awesome year closing for Chicago.
