this is related to Another Blown Save's Womack thread but here's what CBS Sportsline had to say:
Brandon Phillips, 2B CIN
News: According to radio reports, Tony Womack was designated for assignment by the Reds Monday.
Analysis: That news essentially means that red-hot hitting Brandon Phillips will retain the second baseman's job with the Reds. Phillips hit .452 (14-for-31) with three homers and 17 RBI, leading the Reds to a 5-2 mark. Phillips had spent most of the last two-plus seasons in the minors. "Brandon Phillips has had an outstanding week," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "I don't know how many guys are going to have 17 RBI in a week." In Sunday's 11-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, Phillips went 3-for-6 with four RBI, including a three-run homer. He's worth starting in NL-only leagues right now and he could develop into a mixed league middle infielder if he keeps hitting.
