I don't think its that bad. Keith Dugger (Rox head trainer) said the medecine Todd is on should resolve this and he hopes to have him out on the road in a few days to do some activity.
The announcer said it is great news, so it obviously isn't that bad. Will he be back May 5th? Depends on how his progress goes, but I think its possible.
I know not always the best source but according to Karabell....
Eric Karabell: (10:15 AM ET ) It's true, I do not have a medical degree, but the Denver papers are reporting that Helton actually got very good news yesterday, and the team expects him back in the lineup on May 5. I couldn't possibly speculate on the stomach problems Helton had, but it's certainly good news - whether you own Helton in fantasy or not, please - that Helton will be just fine. Enjoy Eli Marrero's production for now, and realize that if he keeps hitting, he'll still get at-bats, probably at the expense of Brad Hawpe.
Apr. 26 The Denver Post reports that Todd Helton (1B) Col could rejoin the Rockies this weekend to resume baseball activities and return to action as soon as May 5, the day he's eligbile to come off the disabled list. He's responded well to treatment the last few days, as the pain and swelling in his small intestine has diminished.
Not much to speak of. I don't know if he's in Florida with the team right now, haven't seen him or heard it mentioned, but I would guess at the least he'd be in Atlanta this Monday.
He did release a statement, more praising the fans for their support:
"I would like to thank all the fans and people who have supported me and my entire family with good wishes, thoughts and prayers," said Helton. "I'm feeling much, much better and I am looking forward to rejoining my teammates. The support from the entire community has overwhelmed us. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone out at Coors Field."
One can only hope he wants to see us this coming Friday.
