Last year was Big Papi's career high for games: 159. Years before that were 150, 128, & 125. And you can hurt yourself lifting weights: kind of spurious to say that someone doesn't need a day off just because they're the DH.

Fair enough, thanks for the Ortiz reference numbers. I'm not saying guys don't need days off or get injured. You'd just think a DH would be able to play just about every day.

yeah..and if hafner takes days off at this rate he will start about 154 games this year. nothing to complain about.

Yeah, I'll take that!!! Nothing wrong with getting a day off. This guy is a BEAST, and if a day off every now and then keeps that elbow feeling aight, then thats cool with me. This guy almost singlehandedly won me my league last year.

Victor has sat out at least one game, and he DH'd Sunday. There has been talk about him playing some 1B too, when he needs a break from catching and they don't want to sit Pronk.

I would prefer if Hafner played first when VMart DHed, at least for a couple games so Haf would get 1b eligibility in yahoo. Selfish reason!

From a gambling point of view... there was heavy money pounding on Cleveland that day .. final game of the series....
Vegas just care about the $$.. fuk fantasy .. like we care...
so sitting out the best players would help alot to this game..

Hey, why not? He has a career .986 fielding percentage at 1B...Ok, so all numbers aside, he's not very good defensively but he's not awful enough to hurt them in the field to the point where he can't make up for it with his bat. They need to let him play more than 1 game there this year, because they can't afford to have their best hitter sitting when they play interleague games on the road. They need every win they can get this year to have a chance at making the playoffs...

Well it looks like he's not in the lineup again tonight. I hope this doesn't become too frequent. One day off a month should be plenty. I hope his elbow isn't bothering him again.

Damn...I can't think of any other reason they would bench him. He has 14 RBI in the last week!!
