Chris Young revealed after Saturday's start that he has been pitching with a thumb injury since his first start of the season. He's scheduled to see a specialist on Monday.

Young said he jammed his thumb during batting practice before his first start. "There is no pain, just coldness which leads to a lack of sensation," Young said. "It feels like I stuck my thumb in a freezer." If Young requires a DL stint, the Padres could put Dewon Brazelton back in the rotatio

Young has felt discomfort in the thumb since getting jammed while taking batting practice on Opening Day. He's scheduled to throw off a mound Tuesday, and he might start Friday. "A lot depends on how he responds to medication in the next day or so," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He could make his next start. The other option is to skip a start -- or we could even put him on the [disabled list]." The Padres have Thursday off, so if Young can't go Friday, everyone else would move up a day.
