"He lost seven pounds," Hurdle said. "We need to give him some time to get his feet underneath him, get his complete wherewithal back before we're going to ask him to hit a slider down and away on a 3-2 count and win a ballgame."
By the end of the game, however, Atkins was in the dugout, his appetite returning and his hunger for the game just as strong. Dugger expects Atkins to be able to start in Philadelphia on Monday night.
"He felt a lot better by the end of the game," Dugger reported. "He said he felt he had some of his energy back and he didn't feel so lackadaisical. When he came in, he was pretty weak, he hadn't eaten much. When a guy who was sick yesterday was eating sunflower seeds at the end of the game, you know he's feeling better."
i don't like the sound of him losing 7 lbs... but it sounds like he'll be okay for next week.... i wish i hadn't resigned encarnacion now.... but i may start him to diversify my risks as i have Hawpe going from Colorado already
