What are the vibes coming out of Chicago for Jon Garland? His numbers look horrific, even with his recent good outing against the Royals. The one I like, as a Brandon McCarthy owner, is the .392 batting average against. How long a leash do we think Ozzie has him on?

Garland will be fine..the game against the Royals involved two horrribly misplayed fly balls by Ozuna (led to 5 runs).

If I remember correctly his last game was strong...the guy is, in my opinion, a great buy low candidate. He has really come into his own the last year and he just looks different on the mound...much more confidence in his stuff. And he is like 26 years old.

Thanks for the info on the first Royal game. It puts the numbers in a lot better perspective. Still, a couple misplays don't entirely explain away a .400 BA.

I love McCarthy's stuff, and I'd sure like him to be on my roster when his role is eventually expanded. Looks like a luxury I may not be able to afford right now, though...

As a Garland owner, I would think that Guillen would have a long leash on 2005 18 game winner. Garland is young and has proven he can pitch great. I see no reason for Guillen to replace Garland with McCarthy, who also is young and will exhibit the same growing pains without the same track record.

After the first two starts I sent him to his bench to think about what he has done. He will stay there til I see some consistency. I think he will come around, I have been eye balling Glavin and thought of dropping Garland for him but holding off. Glavin has been on fire and would like to ride him while hot. Garland is my #5/6 pitcher anyway.
