If it was just on radio Elliot or Chris should have won. The fact that it was on TV is what won it for Taylor (but I still think that Chris should have won - if he just would have sold out and sung a few more ballads...). Taylor has personality and has a lot more stage presence. Although I like him best when he just stops moving and sings normally. If he says "soul patrol" one more time I'm going to pierce my eardrums with a fork. Damn, that's annoying.
btw - the reason that the chick lost, she's from California. All of the winners come from the South where this show is all that they care about.
Kelly Clarkson - Texas

Fantasia - North Carolina
Taylor - somewhere in the south too.
Did you see the receptions that these guys get in the south. Taylor and Elliot had their whole towns come out and met the Governor. Damn, the governor made official Elliot Yamin and Taylor Hicks days for these singers who were unknown a few months ago. Where was Schwartzenegger? He couldn't care less about a TV show. You'll never see a winner from NY or Cali even if they sing like Celine Dion, look like Shania Twain and rip their clothes off onstage during the finale.
Good points Mook. Also the contestants need to realize that they're singing FOR THE FANS and should pick songs they think the fans want to hear. Too many of them get caught up in choosing songs that they want to sing when they should really be choosing songs the fans will know and like. Taylor was brilliant at doing this and that's a big part of why he won.

LMAO. I know that you know what I meant. I think that she has some similar facial features. It's also amazing how much she transformed during the show.
