I'm a marlins fan, one of the few left. After we won the first time and they broke the team apart, everyone b*tched and moaned. The second time we won, they kept the team together but yet the passion was still not there. San Antonion is willing to pony up for a stadium, one of the main demands of the fish at the present.

I would like to see the MLB move the San Antonio "Marlins?" to the AL west and Pittsburgh to the NL East. But lets see what the mlb gurus come up with.

Pitt vs Phills
SA vs Arlington

That won't work. They can't have 15 teams in each division. Besides interleague play there's an odd number of teams to have series between.

San Antonio is a much likelier option, but it'd be a shame for Miami not too have a team.

I disagree.

I hear this arguement aganist Vegas so often it has become cliche. Vegas can have a sports team. It will be very successful too. The vices a player will face in Vegas can be found in New York, LA... every big city. It is just out in the open with Vegas. We live in an age were a player could bet over the Internet easier than walking into the Tropicana. Vegas is an excellent market, ripe for a franchise.

I completely agree. I think that Vegas might actually be tougher for an athlete to get some gambling done just because everyone would be looking for it. Nobody really expects someone in say Cincy, to be in a gambling ring as much as they would someone playing in Vegas. I guarantee there would be a lot of security watching out for players were a team ever moved to Vegas.

As fas as markets go, Vegas would be excellent for a team. It's got good weather for baseball and is full of people from all around the country. There are so many retirees going to Vegas now to live that a baseball fan base would be quite easy to set up. Even if they don't get behind the Marlins (or whatever they would be called there), they would still show up to the park to see their favorite teams from their former hometowns. I don't think anything but positives would come out of a move to Vegas.

I couldn't imagine a better vacation. Gambling and strip clubs until the early morning hours, a quick nap in the rented convertable, then off to the ball park to watch your favorite team on a three-day visit.

Portland has the biggest market for any team without a MLB team (SA is #1 if you include Austin Nearby).

They also are the only city with public funds lined up for a new stadium.

Give oregon a team. C'mon.

Portland was in the middle of all the talk for the Nats a couple of years ago but seem to have died out for the Marlins. As far as public funds go, I though San Antonio had something going on. I saw where they want an answer from the Marlins by May 15th whether or not they're going to move there. Also, I'm pretty sure Vegas could set something up with the casinos down there where they wouldn't have to use much if any public funds at all. The casinos could probably bankroll the whole thing.

If you're going to put a team in Vegas, you might as well put it IN a casino/hotel. A baseball-themed hotel. That would be awesome.

That would be awesome. Really awesome. Hit the blackjack table, go to a game, back to the table... Awesome.

Good call. ;-D
