New Pirates Closer?

Postby TheGuv » Sun Jul 20, 2003 3:54 pm

[size=18]Has anyone got any good information on who the new Pittsburgh Pirate closer will be now that Mike Williams has been traded across state to the Phillies?

My thought is that Mike Lincoln will be the guy, but I imagine Sauerbeck could be in the mix also.

Thank's for your input!

I'd like to see Salomon Torres get a shot at closing...He couldn't do any worse than Williams! :-D

edit: On the Pirates Homepage on ESPN it says the RedSox are interested in Suppan. (Sorry if that's old news)

Torres will most likely stay in relief and spot start...look for some combo of Sauebeck/Beimel/Lincoln to close for the Bucs...

okay....lets see here...

Saurbeck came in the 9th with a 3 run lead...but let two baserunners on. Then they brought lincoln in and he finsihed the inning in 5 pitches. :-?

my guess is it'll be a lefty/righty platoon between sauerbeck/lincoln

I'll say a commitee right now until someone steps up and takes the job.
