NL Roster Advice - Playing for '07

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was asked to take over a vacant NL team for free in order to run the team and not just have a dead owner. It's a 12 team NL only with 8 person minor league roster. $280 for 25 players (6 OFers and 10 Pitchers). I have traded tons of talent away and have no players left from the original roster I took over before Draft Day.

I agreed to run it for free this year and take over the team next season. So I've been building for 2007. I have one spendy player (Pujols) who I am building around figuring I can put together a cheap enough keeper list to afford him. For some perspective Adam Dunn went 56, Carlos Lee 47, Peavy 49, etc. I have no expiring contracts so all are possible keepers. I have one more dump trade to make (Mike Cameron) when he comes back so that will change my roster. Also looking to possibly trade Ronny Cedeno and Chris Duffy because I have my doubts about them being valuable for '07. Corey Sullivan and Yadier Molina are just about in that boat as well.

Anyway, feedback would be appreciated. I'm new to the NL, haven't followed it in probably close to 10 years since my last NL team. It's still a work in progress. There will be a lot of talent in next years draft. Also, in various trades I've acquired 3 more 1st round minor league draft picks, giving me 4 of the 12 so that's additional trade bait in the offseason or if there is enough value there it could give a boost to my farm team.

wow that's an in depth league, i dont know much about the minors except those few prospects that get the most attention.

I like the idea of building around pujohls. And i like you having ss ramirez and 2b phillips for your infield. I'd keep holliday and hermida for your of, they should be good.

In pitching id keep cuapano and coffey.

Most of the others im not familiar with enough to give an opinion, so ill leave that to others.

id go for some of the good young pitching prospects that are a year or two in the bigs, like Haren, Cabrera, Bedard, E. Santana, or Young of SD.

or some other young pitchers that may be reasonably priced yet more expensive like harden, webb or c. lee, maybe patterson.

hope that helps, good luck

Thanks for the advice but I can't go for same of those pitching prospects because it's a very deep NL only league.
