In his journal at the Daily News, Adam Rubin writes that the MRI on Carlos Beltran’s hamstring “came up clean.” According to Rubin, via the team’s PR director, Beltran is cleared to play “whenever he's ready.”…

Come on carlos get in the game................

Beltran is out today but available for PH duties.

So what is the updated consensus now for the four period in weekly leagues with roster deadlines tonight? Start Beltran or not?

For me it's between Beltran and Swisher - which one?

I'd go w/the safe route and start Swisher. Seems like Beltran is a guy that'll take himself out of the game at any sign of injury. I've got Beltran and I'm trying to trade him. He may still do good but I hate taking chances like that. Swisher's been mashing the ball anyway. See if Beltran comes back to full strength after this week. You're not losing much even if Beltran comes back.

Gotta go with Swisher right now. There is no guarantee that Beltran is going to play the whole week either.

Beltran will not play until the ATL series. He will PH during the SF series. :-[

SAN FRANCISCO — The Mets don't expect center fielder Carlos Beltran to play in their series against the Giants this week, but they plan to re-evaluate him Friday before making a decision that could place him on the disabled list.

"We'll see how it feels Friday and go from there," manager Willie Randolph said before last night's game.

The best-case scenario is for Beltran's sore right hamstring to respond to the rest and for him to be available this weekend in Atlanta, where the weather will presumably be warmer.

The worst-case scenario would be for the Mets to push him as a pinch hitter, have him reinjured and then put him on the disabled list. Should he not play against the Giants and still go on the DL, it would be retroactive to April 22.

Also for Milledge junkies:

Mets general manager Omar Minaya said his first inclination "is to be conservative," which would mean bringing up Victor Diaz from Class AAA Norfolk as the extra outfielder and keeping Endy Chavez in center.

Minaya said Lastings Milledge "still needs some Triple-A experience," so bringing him up for two weeks and risk having his confidence shaken is unlikely.
